The gaming world is worked up into a frenzy over the launch of both the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3. Since we are a geek life podcast, we explore the launch day drama — focusing mostly on the Wii as it was the more availible of the two machines. Not only do we cover the launch details, but our good friend Tyler McCall stops by the studio to give us a full report on what playing the new console is actually like.

Great show guys. I also did not get a new console this week. Don’t plan on getting one before the New Year either. I think if I had an extra 600 …. I would be upgrading a computer. I just get into consoles as much as I do into computer games. I did find it interesting that G4 (on TV) seemed to blast every game for the PS3 except Resistance.
I am waiting for Xmas so that I can see who did not buy me the games I want so I can go get them. So… another 40 days of same old stuff…. Playing Mario Kart on my DS and of course BF2 at night. I must say though … if you are tired of “regular” BF2 and (like me) refuse to buy BF 2142…. Then try “Point of Existence2″ a Mod for BF2. It brings back the fun that BF2 has lost.
OMG … Ice Age 2 comes out Tuesday on DVD…….

Thanks for writing in G. Just a note on the BF2 thing, this next week they are supposed to be releasing a pack that includes all of the boosters bundled together for people that didnt buy them earlier. It still doesnt make me interested in the boosters, but someone might be. haha

The boosters are fine and I thought the price reasonable for what I got. The problem was that EA fractured the BF2 community by releasing Special Forces as an independent mod for BF2 instead of in addition to it. Those who like SF left BF2 regular. It split the player base in half. Stupid move. They should have made it as part of regular which would have forced people to buy it so they didnt get booted when the map changed.
Of course…. they could have fixed the bugs that have plagued the game from release. That would have kept a few thousand from leaving also.

I don’t even want to talk about BF2 anymore since my mas horrible experience in losing 130hrs of player stats when my account could no longer be found online - Coincidently it’s about the same time I had installed the SF expansion. HTF does this happen? E/A doesn’t know, Gamespy doesn’t know - All I know is that the game used to whomp ass and I was an uber fan boy playing late into the night, now I write hate posts anytime I get the chance.
I know I am the minority with regards to the BF2 issue but it is a lasting problem that has kept me from enjoying BF2 fun.
