I didn't like the old 2D Metroid games for the same reason -- too much backtracking. I'd clear out a room, find that I didn't have whatever magic key or weapon I need to do the next screen, only to turn back and find all the bad guys had respawned again. Bleh. I hated Castlevania DS. Also, I have Castlevania and loved it. I know Grue had it too, I cant remember his opinion. If you pick it up, don't expect anything earth-shattering. It plays pretty much like the original Castlevania, or CV3. (im sure like some of the newer ones as well, but I didn't have a PS or PS2 so I missed a lot of those) So far FF2 seems better after pulling those extra extensions... We will see as I use it more...
