LOL! The word "colorful" is what scares me...

I enjoy listening to you and Thom and whoever you happen to have around. Floyd always has something interesting to add and Shakka is funny as hell...

I, unfortunately, have nothing to say of interest to your listeners. You guys talk about so many things I have NO clue about (but enjoy hearing about) that you'd probably get nary a word from me :)

Now, if you want to talk about Avid video products or ALEX (http://learn.avid.com), then I'm your man! LOL! I have spent so much time these last few months learning all of the Avid products and doing QA testing for ALEX (which stands for "Avid Learning Excellerator", and was announced at NAB just today) that I'm a wealth of information about that.

I don't play games anymore since I don't have much time between studying for some certifications, testing ALEX (which I've been doing from home on the freaking weekends, too) and cleaning-out the rat hole in which I reside. I have little interest in hand-held games or consoles, which you guys love to death, so, aside from media-related stuff, what it there for me to talk about???

Why am I even getting into this? I guess because I'm waiting another couple of minutes for lunch. Actually, it's lunch-time now, so, PEACE!

Just a note in reference to the video streaming bitrate you guys touched on.

In general, HD is streamed between 25Mbps (HDV, for example) all the way up to uncompressed HD at 1.5Gbps. Since most people wouldn't have a multi-terrabyte array for storing uncompressed HD, the high-end is unlikely

The Avid DS Nitris has a proprietary codec that streams the HD (with a full raster, which is complex, but basically means "real" HD) at 185Mbps.

Generally, the way I understand it, HD streams in prosumer environs run around 25-50Mbps range. HDV, for example, while not being a very good HD codec, runs at 25Mbps (1080i, 19 for 720p) which is interestingly the same as DV25, which is a very good SD bitrate (and the one that our Vortex Network News solution uses).

It looks like the new HD disc technologies are going to run in the ~30Mbsp range.

300Mbps wireless to stream HD? Absolutely! Even with a good, full-raster codec!

Omg that is hilarious! At least now you know to shift-click.

If all else fails, you can always check the instruction manual too ;o)

On the show I talked about how stupid I am in Oblivion and that I'd picked up a pick-axe and overencumbered myself past the point where I could move. I forgot the best part of that story -- how I got myself un-overencumbered.

I ate my way out.

I sorted my inventory by weight and started eating everything I could -- heaviest stuff first. lol
