For an episode that started with three guys who were half asleep, we sure managed to go on for quite a while! Sean was once again promoted to the level of “host” as our weary trio had discussions wireless bridges, L4D, Steve Jobs, mobile gaming, the end of Circuit City, and anything else we saw fit to ramble about.
We also followed up on Sean’s homework assignment from last week.

I was supposed to do this last night since Tony was at a Metallica concert last night, but I had some random work to do then played video games. Imagine that. (In my defense, I finished COD5 to unlock zombie mode so in my mind it was time well spent.)
I’m going to keep this short; Sean “Shakka” Partridge was back and we harassed him mercilessly about his lack of appearance the last couple shows and even demoted him to “guest” for this episode. lol … Poor Sean.

My Internet connection is still less than optimal, but it decided to hold out long enough for us to get a show in — with great sound quality, no less! With our Vista audio problems squarely behind us (we hope), Thom and I decided to sit down and have a chat about his new camcorder, games we played over the holidays, upcoming products from Apple, and the effects of piracy on the PC gaming market.
We still arent back into our “current events” type format, but hopefully we will get there soon — still trying to get all the rust off, and bring things back up to speed. I am hoping to restore some of our 3rd party feeds, and links to other sites, this week as well.

Tony and I fully intended to do another show this week, but a snow plow knocked over his cable provider’s box and his Internet connection is intermittent at best. We plan to record another show as soon as his connection’s back up!
Wow, has it been a year already?
This episode is more of a catch up show — we run through a bunch of games and devices that we have accumulated since the last time we recorded. I know I have said it before, but we are hoping to get back to a regular schedule again. The audio problems that plauged us with our move to Vista on Episode 58 are still present, but not nearly as severe and poptastic — hopefully I can figure that out before next week.
Discussions of current events will return next week, but hopefully you will enjoy this primer for the new “season” of Uncompressed!

I was finally feeling well enough to do a show — unfortunately my computer wasn’t entirely up to the task. While I really dug the topics we covered in this episode, the audio quality is
terrible. Apparently Vista doesn’t integrate with the mixer for Audition, nor does it integrate with the Creative mixer — this means that while things sounded fine during recording, the actual audio that was being stored by the computer was peak-clipping like crazy. I cleaned it up the best I could, but it still sounds pretty bad. I will definitely have this fixed for next week. If you are willing to suffer through, we have some great discussions on Guitar Hero 3, and some of the upcoming releases for this week. Just wanted to pop in and comment on the lack of shows the past few weeks. Unfortunately I have been ill with shingles, and haven’t really been up to sitting through a recording session (wearing headphones is completely out of the question right now, along with just feeling like crap).
Ive been on medication for it, and I am feeling a bit better, so hopefully you will be seeing some new shows popping into your feed soon (you are subscribed to our RSS feed, right?). Sorry for the downtime, and thank you all for supporting Uncompressed!
Sorry for the delay in publishing this — I don’t know where the week has disappeared to. This week is the short(ish) show last week was supposed to be. We talk about the new releases in Portal and PuzzleQuest, discuss the EA takeover of Bioware/Pandemic, and even chat a bit about digital music creation. We really would like to know what topics YOU want us talking about — so why don’t you drop us a line and let us know!
What was going to be a “short show” spiraled into a full hour of off-the-cuff-discussion about Halo, Simpsons demos, Bungee splitting from Microsoft, Puzzle Quest, and more. Sean couldn’t make it for this week’s show, so it was old skool U*, Tony and Thom style.
